Lotte starts new ‘capability-oriented’ hiring

Lotte Group began hiring on 7 April for the 1st half of 2015. The areas of employment are throughout all group affiliates in the food, tourism, service, retail, petrochemical, construction, manufacturing, and finance industries.

A total of 1,200 new employees will be hired: 800 from open recruitment and 400 interns from summer internship 2015. Lotte Group is planning to hire 15,800 people in 2015, including high school graduates, college graduates, and experienced workers. The total number of new employees this year represents a slight increase over last year, when 15,650 people were hired.

Job applicants are not asked to provide photos of themselves, SNS accounts, info-tech related certificates, awards received, hobbies or club activities, or details on language study abroad. Verification of foreign language proficiency or other certificates are required only for certain jobs.

Another hiring session will begin in May, which only requires applicants’ basic information such as name and phone number and then an assessment is done of their work skills. The process is designed to find creative, professional people through the giving of assignments to applicants. The themes of assignments vary by job and by affiliate.

Towards hiring more women, 40% of new employees in the 1st half of 2015 will be women: not only for service or retail, but also manufacturing and petrochemicals.
