KT Corporation (KT) and Samsung Electronics (SE) share first place in the selection of top companies under the Sustainable Development Goals Business Index (SDGBI), which launched this year. KT and SE received high scores for their ‘efforts to eradicate poverty’ and ‘food assistance for the poor.’
The Korean Association for Supporting the SDGs (ASD) for the UN and Chosunbiz announced the 2016 SDGBI on 21 September. The Index was co-developed by Korea’s National Assembly and the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Forum.
From March 2015, ASD analyzed 300 Korean companies which qualified for the Index. Of these 300 companies, 134 were selected as SDGBI candidates. KT and SE received the highest scores in 4 sections, 12 subsections, and 45 indicators, with both companies scoring a total of 78.2.
