Average tenure in large companies is 10 years… Kia Motors longest at 20.3 years

According to an analysis by Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, the average employment tenure in the 88 listed companies (all affiliates of 10 conglomerates) is 10 years.

By group, employees with Hyundai Heavy Industries Group have the longest tenure at 15.7 years, followed by Hyundai Motor Group (12.7 years), Hanjin Group (10.2 years), Lotte Group (9.7 years), SK Group (9.4 years), Samsung Group (9.3 years), Doosan Group (9.0 years), LG Group (8.6 years), and GS Group (7.5 years).

Of the 88 listed affiliates, Kia Motors employees have the longest average tenure at 20.3 years, followed by Hyundai Rotem (20.0 years), Hyundai BNG Steel (19.4 years) and Hyundai Motor (17.5 years). Workers for Hyundai Motor Group show the longest average tenure.

Other companies that have long average employee tenures include Hanwha Life (16.6 years), Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (16.0 years), Hyundai Heavy Industries (15.4 years), Korean Air (14.9 years), LG Hausys (14.8 years), and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (14.0).

The long employment tenures are attributed to stronger sustainability at these companies than among their competitors.
