Lotte Group has decided to continue its effort to increase employment by hiring 70,000 workers over the next 5 years and converting 10,000 non-regular workers to regular employment status over the next three.
Chairman Dong-bin Shin of Lotte Group explained that “Lotte Group has made its achievements over the 50 years since its foundation with the trust and cooperation between labor and management despite many difficulties.” He also mentioned that the Group was the first in Korea to issue a “Declaration of a Creative Labor-Management Culture” 2 years ago, and took a variety of actions including expanding childcare leave to 2 years, and introducing mandatory paternity leave towards a family-friendly environment and shared growth.
Mr. Shin also emphasized that ‘employment is the best welfare,’ explaining that the Group employs 350,000 workers (directly and indirectly) and will continue its efforts to enhance employment in accordance with growth, and create greater harmony in employment of the youth and the older generations. Lotte also encouraged its workers to take a leading role in establishing the labor and management culture, creating value for the Group, increasing the contentment of the workers, and in reinforcing social values.
