Shinsegae to hire more than 20,000 new employees and offer subsidies to partner firms for employment

Shinsegae Group and its partner firms will hire a number of employees as part of efforts to tackle deteriorating employment. On 15 September, Shinsegae Group and its partner firms held a joint job fair.

A total of 125 firms participated, including the group’s 10 major units such as Shinsegae Department Store, Shinsegae Food, Shinsegae International, and Starbucks Korea, as well as 115 partner firms such as Hermes Korea, Singsong Food, and CheongWoo Confectionary.

Through this event, overall office jobs for planning, HR, financing and other service jobs in such areas as merchandising sales, distribution, food, beverages, design and IT, etc. were opened to job seekers. Furthermore, employment opportunities were given to women who had career interruptions and older workers, as well as young people.

Shinsegae Group covered all expenses for the job fair such as space rental, event planning & operation, etc.

Meanwhile, Shinsegae Group said that it will hire more than 20,000 employees from the second half of this year and into next year. Through its ‘Vision 2030’ released last year as a management plan for the next decade, the company vowed to recruit more than 10,000 employees every year for 10 years.

In 2014, Shinsegae hired a total of 13,500 new employees and plans to hire 14,500 this year, with more pledged for next year.
