CJ Group to employee 14,000 regular workers through 2017

CJ Group decided to hire 14,000 new regular workers over 3 years through 2017. It is also positively considering implementing a wage peak system.

On 16 September, CJ Group unveiled its recruitment plans for the next three years, saying “In order to join efforts to resolve the youth unemployment issue and achieve sustainable growth, CJ Group has decided to actively invest in its human resources.”

According to the plans, CJ Group will hire a total of 4,000 new employees this year (2,400 university graduates and 1,600 high school graduates), which is double last year’s numbers. Furthermore, CJ Group will hire 4,500 university and high school graduates in 2016 and 5,500 in 2017. For the next three years, it will also employ 16,200 people through its time-selective internship program (4,400 in 2015, 5,000 in 2016, and 6,800 in 2017).

“As the service industry is growing rapidly, young employees are in high demand now. CJ will work to develop a professional workforce and generate quality jobs,” an official from CJ Group stated.

Through partnership agreements with 10 vocational colleges, CJ Group hired more than 300 employees, and has various employment support programs for the youth such as vocational training and helping trainees to find jobs at CJ affiliates.

“CJ Group’s affiliates, including CJ CheilJedang Corp., are now considering introduction of a wage peak system. We will contribute to boosting the national economy by improving labor market structure through the wage peak system, and also create employment for the youth,” the CJ Group official added.
