Labor plans to focus on action against the government to block implementation of performance-based wage systems and planned labor reform policies in the first half of 2016
On 15 February, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) held its central executive committee meeting and discussed wage hike demands and activities for 2016. The FKTU plans to organize rallies in front of each regional MOEL office and hold nationwide union representative rallies in the first half of 2016 towards abolishing the 2 major guidelines.
The FKTU is pushing for a 7.9% (KRW 256,734/month) increase in wages for this year.

On 17 February, the Korean Public & Social Services and Transportations Workers’ Union (KPTU), affiliated with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), held a regular convention and determined action plans that include a general strike in September & October to block further implementation of performance-based wage systems.
The KPTU plans to form a ‘Joint Labor Strife HQ’ in the first half of the year.
