The National Assembly’s Environment & Labor Committee focusing on passage of the revised Labor Standards Act, which includes reduced working hours
The National Assembly’s Environment & Labor Committee mediated between the ruling and opposition parties on reducing working hours through the Subcommittee on Employment & Labor despite the fact that a provisional session of the National Assembly was not held in January.
As assistant administrators from the opposition parties demanded floor leaders from the three parties to meet before this Subcommittee, Mr. Young-pyo Hong, Chairman of the Environment & Labor Committee, mentioned in a press interview on 2 January that he would proceed with a vote if no agreement is reached on reducing working hours by February.
The Environment & Labor Committee held a meeting of its Subcommittee on Employment & Labor on 19 January where it discussed policies to reduce working hours, which it will address in a provisional session of the National Assembly in February.
