LG U+ runs a ‘Cheerful Work’ project to bring about a creative and autonomous corporate culture

LG U+ has been carrying out a project called ‘Making Work Cheerful’ since the beginning of this year. The project has made a soft landing throughout the company and is now evolving into ‘self- management.’

The project is based on 4 principles: ▲creation of a corporate culture based on motivation, optimism, and communication ▲development of meetings, briefings, methods of working, and working conditions ▲development of corporate social responsibility, and ▲creation of a better work-life balance. The company has set every 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month as ‘smart working days’ when employees work until 5 pm. It also abolished the employee dress code and established the employees’ ‘right to disconnect’ after 10 pm (no work-related smartphone messages) to make work more enjoyable.

The project was first adopted by LG Display in 2008, starting with a reduction of employee work stress by providing a meditation room. After 2 quarters, the positive outcomes of the project led to a deficit of 4 consecutive quarters becoming a surplus.
